Brrr!

We thought we'd have good (read: warm) weather throughout our time in LA, but we were a bit mistaken. The day was beautiful, but the night game had everyone grabbing extra coats and blankets. It was definitely worth it though, as a lively crowd was on hand to see the '91s top Chivas, 3-0 in the Showcase Game.

Before the game, Bob Bradley, Bob Jenkins, Thomas Rongen and Coach Hackworth were introduced to the crowd. Coach Hackworth gave a welcome speech (so did Bob Bradley), which we think was right on the money. He addressed all of the players at the Showcase, reminding them that they're a part of history. He is quite a good public speaker.

Off to a good start...

After a great day of soccer, a good dinner and some Xbox in the Players' Lounge, it feels like the Academy is really off to a good start. The games have been competitive, there are a ton of college coaches here and we got to eat inside the HDC's Stadium.

The '92s picked up a win in their Academy debut, beating Chivas USA U-16s 3-0, and now the younger squad will be among the hundreds who turn out to watch the '91s take on Chivas U-18. We don't think we're adequately prepared for what feels like is going to be a chilly night, but otherwise, we can't wait.

Change of Venue

After weeks of what felt like endless training, scrimmages and short-sided games amongst ourselves, the two U.S. U-17 squads will finally find opponents in a different uniform at the Development Academy's Fall Showcase Weekend at the HDC. The team will have a late arrival on Friday night into LAX and then head to the hotel to grab a quick dinner and hopefully get a good night's sleep. Showcase games kick off Saturday at 11 a.m., but the YNTs don't take the field until later in the day. The '91s will be a part of the Showcase Game on Saturday night under the lights, taking on Chivas USA Under-18s. Everyone is looking forward to what should be a great weekend.
