The Olympic Training Center

Earl Edwards

The U-17s held their first two training sessions today at the Centro de AltoRendimiento Baja California - which very roughly translates into the High Performance Center of Baja California. It's the equivilant of the nearby U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista Calif. in that some of Mexico's best athletes train here.

Next to the soccer field were the swimming and diving training centers, complete with one of those pits filled with foam that divers and gymnasts use to practice.

The U.S. team will make themselves comfortable at the facility as they settle in to daily training there. Oh yea, that mountain in the background shows how close we are to the United States - most of Otay Mountain (the biggest one you can see in the distance) falls in California.
