Pre-Game Snack

Like any athletes, the players on the U.S. U-17 Women's National Teams have small rituals that they do on game day. For U.S. defender Amber Brooks, it's eating a pack of Care Bear Gummies in a certain order right before she hits the field for kickoff. She eats the yellows first, then blue, the pink, then red and finally the greens, because "it's the good luck bear." Brooks started the tradition three years ago and also has a green Care Bear with a four-leaf clover on her backpack. The corn syrup, sugar and modified corn starch snack seems to give her extra energy, and her teammates seem to think she looks like a Koala Bear, so it all works out in the end.
